Séminaire de Probabilités

The Séminaire de probabilités consists in a yearly published book in the Lecture Notes in Mathematics series of Springer-Verlag. It follows a long tradition established by Paul-André Meyer since 1967 and has been one of the supports of the development of the French school of probabilities (for more information, see this historical account).

The Séminaire de Probabilités accepts articles in Probability and Statistics but is also devoted to specialized courses and to notes or survey articles. Articles giving a new insight on the theory or an overview may also be accepted. Its editorial line has been presented in Volume 40:

In a changing world where the status of paper and ink is questioned and where, alas, pressure for publishing is increasing, in particular among young mathematicians, we shall try and keep the same direction. Although most contributions are anonymously refereed, the Séminaire is not a mathematical journal; our first criterion is not mathematical depth, but usefulness to the French and international probabilistic community. We do not insist that everything published in these volumes should have reached its final form or be original, and acceptance–rejection may not be decided on purely scientific grounds. The policy set forth in volume XIII still prevails: ''laisser une place aux débutants à côté des mathématiciens déjà connus, publier des articles de mise au point à côté des travaux originaux, et même, de temps en temps, publier un article intéressant, mais faux.'' But the Séminaire is not gray literature either.

From Volume 43, the Séminaire de Probabilités is edited by Catherine Donati-Martin, Antoine Lejay and Alain Rouault.

The previous editors were Paul-André Meyer, Jacques Azéma, Marc Yor, Michel Emery, Michel Ledoux, Christophe Stricker.

Finding an article / online access to the articles

Access to the volumes : From Volume 1 to Volume 36 (Numdam) | From Volume 37.

All the articles are accessible online through the Spingerlink Website with a restricted access. You may also buy online some of the volumes.

Volumes 1 (in 1967) to 36 (in 2002) are freely available through Numdam.

A searchable database of authors, abstracts, keywords, ... is provided for the all articles since Volume 1 (in 1967).

The volumes of the Séminaire de Probabilités are indexed by MathSciNet and Zentralblat.

This site contains a list of the specialized courses from Volume 33.

Associated conference: Journées de probabilités

For more than 40 years, the Journées de probabilités is a yearly French congress historically linked to the Séminaire de Probabilités. The 2014 edition will be held in CIRM in Marseille. Previous recent editions took place in Orléans in 2013, Roscoff in 2012, Nancy in 2011 and Dijon in 2010.

How to submit an article?

The articles shall be sent to one of the editors (catherine.donati-martin at uvsq.fr | Antoine.Lejay at univ-lorraine.fr | alain.rouault at uvsq.fr) and will then be refereed as for articles published in regular journals.

After acceptance, setting in the right style...

The article shall be typesetted in LaTeX using the svmult class from Springer-Verlag (files: style, documentation, ...). Please note that using this style helps us to reduce our pre-production time.
